The Blues Driver is one of those pedals that I had never played until just recently. The ads for the pedal in the old guitar magazines I read as a kid marketed the BD-2 towards, you guessed it, blues players. But, the BD-2 is so much more. As of this review, the BD-2 is the most 'amp-like' Boss OD pedals I have tried. Right off the bat, I noticed that the BD-2 didn't suffer from the typical 'level knob' issue of most Boss OD's. In fact, I had to set the level at around 11:00 to keep it from boosting the signal too much. At 12:00, the bypassed clean signal was too quiet compared to the BD-2 engaged. The is in reference to the BD-2 being played into the Marshall's low input. I also noticed that the tone knob sounded best from 12:00 to maxed to the right. Even cranked, the brightness added was musical and never harsh. Below 12:00 to the left, it got a little too muffled. In front of the low input, the gain control sounded best at 12:00 or above. Even maxed, it added a very amp-like cranked sound. Very impressive. In front of the high input on the Marshall, the Blues Driver added some nice articulate gain, and remained natural to the amp's tone. With the gain above 12:00, it got a little too fuzzy for my taste, but just barely so. At 12:00, it was perfect! Overall, the Blues Driver really impressed me. Dare I say, it's one of my favorite Boss pedals so far. It just might give my OD-1 a run for its money in some situations. -Cameron Johnson Music by Atma Weapon atmaweaponnc.bandcamp.com facebook.com/atmaweaponnc
