Both are a type of chorus effect, but the DC-2 is analog and the DC-3 is digital. Until I tried the DC-3, I was actually pretty put off by a digital chorus. Ew. Well, I was pleasantly surprised! If you are curious about the two names, here is the story. The pedal was released as the Digital Dimension. In the late 80's, the pedal stopped being sold in the US, and was only sold overseas. The name was then changed to Digital Space-D for the Japanese market. (Bossarea.com) The DC-3 is quite awesome actually! Don't let the word 'digital' fool yah. It is much more flexible and more 'natural' sounding than the DC-2. The chorusing effect can be much more subtle as well. While using the pedal in mono, I had to set the Level control past noon to really hear the effect. The EQ knob controls how much high end shimmer you want in the chorus; 12:00 is a good starting point. Rate and Depth work just like you would imagine. Once again, I found 12:00 to be nice for both. If you set the Depth and Rate to around 9:00, you can get a really cool fattening effect. You won't really hear any chorusing. Instead, your notes and chords just fatten up and sound more slick. Overall, I really like the DC-3. It just may be my favorite Boss Chorus. I have used it on some clean parts for Atma Weapon's new album. This is coming from a guy who typically hates chorus too! -Cameron Johnson Music by Atma Weapon atmaweaponnc.bandcamp.com facebook.com/atmaweaponnc
