Be sure to subscribe so you don't miss a review! Episode 11: Boss DS-1 Distortion What is there to say about the DS-1 that hasn't already been said? Not much. Overall, it's a solid distortion pedal. But, it does not sound good in front of a clean amp. You really need to have a dirty sound going on before you add the DS-1. Otherwise, it is just going to sound week. That's the biggest mistake people make with this and other Boss distortion/ overdrive pedals. When you have other great drive pedals around, it's kind of hard to justify rocking a DS-1 on your board. But, with the right setting, it can make your JCM800 sound great.
